David Ball (Malekpour Ball Consulting) is the nation's most influential trial consultant. With partner Artemis Malekpour, he guides plaintiff's civil cases and criminal defense cases across the country. Joshua Karton specializes in applying theater and film communication techniques to the art of trial advocacy. He and his projects have received awards and grants from the New York Drama Desk, Ford Motor Company Fund, Kellogg Foundation, California Arts Council, and he is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Stetson University College of Law’s Center for Excellence in Advocacy. He teaches and develops curriculum for the AAJ, Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer’s College, NITA, US JAG Corps, ABA, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Criminal Defense College, Loyola and California Western Schools of Law, and many state trial lawyer associations. His years of courtroom consulting culminated in the preparation of the winning oral argument in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld.
Joshua is the president of Communication Arts and specializes in the application of the communication techniques of theater, film, and television to the art of trial advocacy. Television writing and acting credits range from Forever Fernwood to Beverly Hills 90210. Having trained as an actor at San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater, he returned there to teach after writing and directing the film and video exhibits of Theatrical Evolution, winner of the New York Drama Desk Award.
